Malmö has a unique spirit and an exciting mix of people. The thriving commercial life and the university offer a great quality of life and a rich range of activities. This is attracting many new residents to the city, which is growing every year.

  • The city is split into ten urban districts and the population has increased in each of them. To serve the increasing population, municipal facilities are also being expanded rapidly. At the same time as the city is growing, it is also becoming younger.  Today’s typical Malmö resident is a 29 year-old woman or a 30 year-old man.
  • With a population of over 300,000, Malmö is Sweden’s third largest city. Forecasts show an estimated population of some 350,000 by 2020.
